City University Malaysia, founded in April 1984, emerged from a collaboration of seasoned scholars with diverse backgrounds from local and international universities. Initially known as Petaling Jaya Community College (PJCC) and registered under the former Education Act 1961 with the Ministry of Higher Education, its establishment responded to the growing realization of the private sector's role in complementing national education.
